Thu 29.12.2011 – Tue 10.1.2012 South Georgia

Almost two weeks we are going to explore the great wonders of magic South Georgia islands. The final daily program will be customized according to weather conditions and our group wishers. All of us will be photographers and our main goal is to spend maximum time on shore. We are going to wake up early, will come back on board for lunch and after a small nap will be going back again to spent time with penguins and albatrosses – or with seals.

We will be focusing for the most important locations where we can spend even two or three days for more in deep photographing possibilities.

Here is some of our main goals, but all destinations will be under the safety regulations and our captain Jerome Poncet will have always the last word. Our Falkland Island based captain has more than 30 years experience on these waters and normally he is running there photographers from BBC or National Geographic.

Tue 10.1. – Sat 14.1.2012 Farewell Point - // Polar Front // - Stanley

After almost two weeks with the amazing wildlife, icebergs and snow capped mountains it is time to get back to Polar Front. Returning to Falkland Islands will take about 5 days.

After arriving to Falklands we are going to spent one night in Stanley, but after custom formalities our great expedition will continue with a Falkland Islands circumnavigation!

On Falkland Islands the most amazing wildlife spots are out of reach for normal visitors. They are at the far corners of the islands, and they are not possible to reach by small plane as most of the other islands. But the wildlife is astonishing.

These great wonders are Steeple Jason and New Island.

It will take one full day to navigate to Steeple Jason, and we will spent a full day there with photographing. (normal cruise ship visitors will stop there just for couple of hours).

During the next night we will go forward to New Island and spend another full day there photographing and enjoying the rich wildlife.

While returning back to the main port of Falkland, Stanley, we will terminate our tour on the way to Sea Lion island. There we can find one of the most remote wilderness hotel.

Wed 18.1. – Fri 20.1. Sea Lion Island

After three and a half week on sea we will move to the remote wilderness hotel, relax and enjoy of the good  service. But, there is amazing variety of wildlife also here, penguin colonies starting just 200 meters from the resort.

Fri 20.1.   Sea Lion - Stanley

A small Falkland Islands Goverment Air Service plain will be coming to pick us for a half an hour flight back  to Stanley.

Sat 21.1.       Stanley

Transport to the airport. LAN flights back to Europe via Santiago de Chile will depart during the afternoon.

From Finland a roundtrip airfare Helsinki-Madrid-Santiago-Falklands // Falklands -Santiago-Madrid-Helsinki by LAN airways and  with these dates do cost about 1 600 eur.
